Google approached Watson Design to craft an award that would show gratitude and employee appreciation. The aim was to produce a design incorporating colors from the Google palette that could be proudly displayed without appearing generic or corporate.

We opted to use black bamboo finished with clear Danish oil to create a a circular base and structure. Sitting around the wood on each side is a trio of aluminum rings finished with clear matte anodizing. This allowed us to apply UV flatbed printed graphics and logos to add a bespoke touch and showcase the Google brand.

Using a yellow electrical thread we wove the material through the rings to represent each of Google’s data centers.

The finished product is a clean and modern award that is distinctly unique to the Google brand to help create a sense of value for employees and thank them for their hard work.
