Andrew grew up in Far North Queensland, Australia. Curious and artistic as a child, his parents supported his creative passions and enrolled him in as many creative classes as they could. As a teen, Andrew developed a desire to further his hobbies and started to explore his passion for creativity.
Andrew completed both a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Industrial Design at Griffith University, Queensland College of Art (QCA). His studies focused on sustainable and responsible design practices. Motivated by a strong desire to push creative design boundaries, he received numerous awards and recognitions for having the highest academic achievements in his graduating class of 150 students.
Since completing the design program at QCA, Andrew returned as a sessional instructor, teaching in the design program. Andrew has an extensive portfolio of three dimensional design related projects including industrial design, branded environment/exhibition design, environmental graphic design, print based graphic design and 3D visualization.

Having come from a family of small business owners, Andrew trusted his entrepreneurial instincts and in 2006, decided to turn his passion into a business. Since launching his business, Andrew has worked with companies such as Google, Red Bull, Disney, The United Nations, Verizon Wireless, LG, West Jet, Mazda, Fuji Xerox, Ericsson (formally Sony Ericsson), Absolute Vodka, Volkswagen, PGA, X-Prize, Indian Motorcycle, Phillips, A&W, Gap Clothing, Wilson Sporting Goods and many more. He spends a lot of time (maybe too much time) outdoors seeking more inspiration for his next artful designs.
Andrew believes strongly in the advantages of using Eco-friendly materials whenever possible. To reduce any impact on the environment he endeavors to utilize only reclaimed wood or FSC certified wood. He frequently works with bamboo as it is one of the fastest growing and most harvest-able plants on the planet.
Andrew Watson Design has been featured in: BC Business Magazine, BC Small Business Awards (finalist), Connect Sports Magazine, Collaborate Magazine, & Canadian Immigrant Magazine.
ordering & methodology
There is a vision and a personality that runs through our work and is showcased in our final pieces. Our methodology enables our clients to experience seamless custom design, production and fulfillment. From concept through to final creation, packaging and logistics, we will make it happen.
We enjoy promoting collaboration between the designer and the client. We encourage you to share your ideas and creativity to assist in the design process.
our design process
We always enjoy meeting new clients and finding out the things that make you unique! In our initial meeting we will discuss the vision of the project, as well as the custom award, plaque or trophy aesthetic, intent and goals. Then we research the history of the award and its purpose, and create several conceptual options based on these findings, which we then present to you.
After choosing a design, we take extra care by reviewing and refining any of the aesthetic looks and design. From there, an initial proof is created using pre-production materials which are made to size and colour specifications and an initial proof is created.
Feedback from the initial proof is used to make any final changes to the design. We then send out a final proof for approval. This proof includes all pertinent design specifications and once approval has been given we start the manufacturing process for your award, plaque, and or trophy.
All awards, plaques and trophies are packaged using robust materials, and will be ready for pickup or delivery by the desired date (shipping costs are additional).
